The
Island contain hundred and fifty unique species of plants and herbs
which is only found on Channel Island. Over all two thousand species
found on this island. Santa Barba is home of more than thirty mammals.
These mammals include both water and on land mammals. Thirteen thousands
year ago maritime Paleo people settled this island. Archeologists have
discovered that dwarf wooly mammoths thrived on the island until the
last Ice Age ended 11,000 years ago. Archeologists have discovered
approximately 148 historic village sites, including 11 on Santa Cruz
Island, eight on Santa Rosa Island, and two on San Miguel Island.
